Dad's Speech at Engagement Dinner
I
am Walter, Dan's father. I would like to thank everyone for coming this
evening to celebrate the engagement of my son Dan to a wonderful future
daughter in law, Loralee. It is delightful to see you all and meet so
many of their friends from their old school, church, college and the
office. My family would like to thank the Obien family for helping to
organize this wonderful party. This occasion will give both of our
families the ideal opportunity to get to know each other. It was sometime back in one of the conversation with Dan when he came to visit that his mom and I asked him about any current girl
friends. Dan mentioned he met this girl and she is Filipino. Hey I
thought you were not going to date any Filipino because they tend to be
drama queens. Dan said she is different and she is perfect. His mom
playing devils advocate said that nobody is perfect. But When we
finally got the chance to meet Loralee, we saw why Dan fell in love
with her. I knew then that it will just be a matter of time before he
settles down. In one
of the conversation with Loralee, she mentioned that before she met
Dan, She said that she would not get involved with someone in the
military. And so Here we are. This goes to show that when you find
somebody that you love and care for, preconceived notions go out the
window. I have one advice to Loralee. "Before
marriage a man will lay awake all night thinking about something you
said; after marriage he'll fall asleep before you have finished saying
it". So take advantage of tonight to tell our son everything he has to
remember!
My advice to is Dan that you remember that you are going to be the king of the household but bear mind that Loralee is going to be the Ace. Lastly,
I would like to Thank Loralee for accepting my Son's proposal. Please
join me in wishing them good health to Loralee and Dan as we look
forward to seeing them wed this summer. Much love and future happiness
to Dan and Loralee. | | |
| really enjoyed this song once i read the lyrics. he has a myspace page and you can also listen to it at the end of last episode of the OC. Enjoy. I suggest you listen to the song first then you read the lyrics. Then think.
Patrick Park - Life is a Song
You say life is a dream where we can't say what we mean
Maybe just some roadside scene that we're driving past
There's no telling where we'll be in a day or in a week
And there's no promises of peace or of happiness
Well is this why you cling to every little thing
And polverize and derrange all your senses
Maybe life is a song but you're scared to song along
Until the very ending
Oh, it's time to let go of everything we used to know
Ideas that strengthen who we've been
It's time to cut ties that won't ever free our minds
From the chains and shackles that they're in
Oh, tell me what good is saying that you're free
In a dark and storming sea
You're chained to your history, you're surely sinking fast
You say that you know that the good Lord's in control
He's gonna bless and keep your tired and oh so restless soul
But at the end of the day when every price has been paid
You're gonna rise and sit beside him on some old seat of gold
And won't you tell me why you live like you're afraid to die
You'll die like you're afraid to go
Oh, it's time to let go of everything we used to know
Ideas that strengthen who we've been
It's time to cut ties that won't ever free our minds
From chains and shackles that they're in
From the chains and shackles that they're in
Well life is a dream 'cause we're all walking in our sleep
You could see us stand in lines like we're dead upon our feet
And we build our house of cards and then we wait for it to fall
Always forget how strange it is just to be alive at all

| JOKE: They don't speak the same language
|
|
The
reason the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines bicker amongst themselves
is that they don't speak the same language. For instance, take the
simple phrase "secure the building".
The Army will post guards around the place.
The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.
The Air Force will take out a 5 year lease with an option to buy.
The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters
